On September 9^th, 2019, at 3 p.m., the opening ceremony of Grade 2019 graduate students of Lanzhou University Law School was held in the Yifu Science Museum of Lanzhou University in Chengguan Campus. Sha Peng, Party Secretary of Law School, President Gan Peizhong, Vice-President Wu Shuangquan, Vice-President Chi Fangxu, Vice-President Ye Aihong, Professor Liu Zhijian, Professor Ma Mingxian, Professor Yang Sanzheng and other representatives of more than 30 faculty members and all graduate students of Grade 2019 attended the ceremony. The ceremony was presided over by He Junwen, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee of Law School.

After singing the national anthem, Jin Peng, the graduate student of Grade 2017 as well as president of the Graduate Association of Law School, made a speech as the representative of the graduate students. He combined his own experience to convey to the freshmen his insights into the life of graduate students, urging students to maintain self-discipline, establish the concept of long-term learning, conscientious learning, active learning, to use the law to serve life, serve the people, serve the society, and make achievements out of all these above. Then, on behalf of all the freshmen, Mr. Ge Ruixuan, a graduate student of economic law in 2019, made a speech, expressing his pride and joy in becoming a law student at Lanzhou University. He said that he would keep in mind the original intention of persistence and determination, practise rational self-cultivation and adhere to the principles of law, and make unremitting efforts to become a qualified legal person.

Professor Yang Sanzheng, Professor Ma Mingxian and Professor Liu Zhijian conveyed speeches as representatives of teachers. In his speech, Professor Yang Sanzheng said that being cultivated, learning and living are the three most important things for students in postgraduate study. He reminded students to be'self-cultivated', to find their own value and the joy of life in the hardship of learning. Professor Ma Mingxian, starting from the achievements of the 40-year reform and opening-up in New China, argued that today with the deepening of the construction of legal system in China, the training of outstanding legal talents has become the common goal of the whole society. For freshmen, they should use their limited time to acquire more knowledge and have legal knowledge. At the same time, it is more important to train students to grasp the methods of human legal phenomena, to solve legal problems, to integrate law with politics, economy and culture, and to have good humanistic quality. Finally, Professor Liu Zhijian, on the relationship between learning and life, suggests that freshmen should constantly find pleasure in seemingly boring learning, find their own value, and live a truly meaningful postgraduate life.

In his final speech, President Gan Peizhong first expressed his heartfelt congratulations and warm welcome to the 2019 grade postgraduates.He uttered that Lanzhou University would be his alma mater with 2019 grade postgraduates in the future. He would devote himself to the construction of the Law School of Lanzhou University, set an example and work with all faculty members to serve the Law School with all his strength. He urged students, as a graduate student and a member of the Lanzhou University Law School, not only to read widely, seek truth diligently, treat learning accurately and meticulously, but also to learn to think independently, abide by academic discipline, and be young people of the times with ideals, abilities and responsibilities.

On the Teacher's Day, all the 2019 grade graduate students sent their festival wishes to the faculty and staff of the college, and students' representatives presented flowers to the teachers.
