At the joint invitation of the Law School of Lanzhou University, the Italian Research Center of Lanzhou University and the School of Political and International Relations, Professor Xing Jianjun, head of the Italian Education Center in China held a special lecture entitled 'Current Situation, Trends and Prospects of Sino-Italian Higher Education Cooperation' at Qiyun Building, room 1723, Chengguan Campus of Lanzhou University on the 22nd of April, 2019. The lecture was presided over by Professor Liu Guanghua, Director of the Italian Research Center of Lanzhou University and Director of the Institute of Economic Law of Lanzhou University Law School. Students from the law school and Higher Education College participated in the lecture.
In the lecture, Professor Xing Jianjun introduced the friendly exchanges between China and Italy as well as the general situation of Italy, starting with President Xi Jinping`s state visit to Italy on March 21, 2019. Professor Xing's lecture consisted of three parts: Italian higher education system; current situation, trend and Prospect of Sino-Italian higher education exchange and cooperation; and Sino-Italian university scientific research cooperation. A comprehensive, brilliant and hierarchical analysis was carried out.
I. Italian Higher Education System
The first part focuses on the Italian higher educational system, and makes a profound analysis of the characteristics and advantages of the Italian higher educational system with the Bologna process as the core. This paper seeks to elaborate the comprehensive university educational system and the higher art college educational system respectively. In the comparative analysis, Italian universities do not rank; they are all 'research universities' without special 'normal universities'. Universities generally do not have campuses, many of which are 'university cities' and other novel features have reshaped students' understanding of Italian higher education and left a deep impression on them.
II. Current Situation, Trend and Prospect of Sino-Italian Higher Education Exchange and Cooperation
In this part, Professor Xing mainly explained the exchange and cooperation of Sino-Italian higher education on the basis of the list of Sino-Italian cooperative schools and projects and the relevant data published by the government. Professor Xing pointed out that with the rapid development of bilateral exchanges and cooperation in the field of education between China and Italy, remarkable achievements have been made in recent years in the fields of sending foreign students, language teaching and cooperative running of schools. In addition, Professor Xing Jianjun also elaborated on the basic conditions and ways of studying in Italy for the dominant disciplines of the famous Italian universities that students are most interested in.
III. Scientific Research Cooperation in Sino-Italian Universities
The last part, is about the two cooperation agreements of Sino-Italian Strategic Plan for Scientific and Technological Innovation Cooperation for 2020 and Sino-Italian Joint Scientific and Technological Cooperation Project Collection Guide (2019-2021), and focuses on the future Sino-Italian innovative process of artificial intelligence, astrophysics related technology, innovative biomedical equipment and pharmacology, biomass conversion into energy and other value-added products. Under the guidance of Professor Xing, students' vision and thinking has been diverted to the international advanced technology field, and they are full of confidence in the cooperation between China and Italian governments and the prospect of 'One Belt and One Road' Initiative development.
After the lecture, Professor Xing Jianjun interacted with the students who attended the lecture, answered the questions that he was asked and encouraged the students to actively participate in international exchange activities in order to broaden their horizons and improve their literacy skills and also to make use of the excellent platform provided by Lanzhou University.
