On the afternoon of August 21th, a conference was held in Lanzhou University on the appointment of the new dean of the Law School in Conference Room 1723 of Qiyun Building, Chengguan Campus (West District). Yuan Zhanting, Secretary of the Party Committee of Lanzhou University, Yan Chunhua, president as well as Wu Guosheng, executive vice secretary of the Party Committee, attended the appointment meeting. Gan Peizhong, the new dean of the Law School, and all the staff and student representatives attended the meeting. The meeting was chaired by Sha Peng, Secretary of the Party Committee of the School.

At the meeting, Wu Guosheng read out the appointment documents of the school. Sha Yongzhong, Vice-principals, also the former dean of of law, Gan Peizhong, the new dean of the law school, and Sha Peng, the Secretary of the Party Committee of the school, made statements respectively.

Sha Yongzhong thanked the teachers and students of Law School for their support during his work. He said that in the past, during the work in the school, it was felt that the teachers of the Law School was ambitious. The teachers of the sachoo also had good abilities and accomplishments. The university has also provided an environment for cultivating achievement in the school. It is hoped that in the future, the leading group will enhance its leadership and execution, serve the teachers and students of the School well, and work together to establish a positive, ambitious and cooperative school culture to promote the development of the Law School.

Gan Peizhong thanked Lanzhou University for its trust. He said that he knew the great responsibility and would do his utmost to unite with the faculty and students of the college. Based on the development history of the law school in the past 100 years, he aimed at improving the shortcomings of the development of the School, made clear the future direction of development, and strived for breakthroughs in the application for doctoral authorization, the construction of teaching team and the creation of academic journals. Keep the mission in mind and make great efforts in the development of Lanzhou University Law School.

Sha Peng, on behalf of the leading group of the Law School, thanked the Party Committee for its concern and help and welcomed Gan Peizhong's work in the School. He said he believed that Professor Gan Peizhong's profound education, broad academic vision, rich human resources and decades of experience in studying and working in Peking University would greatly promote the construction and development of the School in the new stage.

Yan Chunhua introduced Professor Gan Peizhong's resume in detail. He warmly welcomed his work and fully affirmed his achievements in the professional field. He expressed that Professor Gan Peizhong had true temperament and knowledge, and hoped that Professor Gan Peizhong would establish rules and regulations in his work posts, form work norms for all aspects of the development of the School, give full play to the role of academic committees in the management of the college; with his own advantages and resources, he was supposed to activate the academic atmosphere of the law school, and lead the teachers of the law school to step up. In the international academic arena, we should strengthen the construction of teaching staff, create a good environment and atmosphere for the growth of young teachers, improve the curriculum system, and create a number of quality courses with solid basic knowledge and practical application keeping pace with the times. He suggested that law schools should strive to create a bright spot of academic research, integrate national will, social development and people's needs into the thinking of the legal system, improve their position, review history, look forward to the future, and combine the academic frontiers at home and abroad, formulate a long-term plan for the development of the college, and steadily promote the construction and development of the college.

Yuan Zhanting said that Professor Gan Peizhong has a high academic level, a strong social influence, a strong ability to integrate resources, and a strong sense of family and country. He believes that Professor Gan Peizhong can lead the members of his team and the faculty and students in a united way, and promote the work of the College to a new level. He sent three sentences to the development of Grammar College. One is 'sail by the side of a sinking boat, and there are thousands of trees ahead of the sick tree'. The development status of the College should be viewed objectively, the problems should be treated with rational thinking, and ways, efforts and practical measures should be taken to innovate ideas and solve development problems. The second is 'emancipating the mind, seeking truth from facts and looking forward with unity'. The college team should emphasize politics, good planning, grasping the team, educating characteristics, promoting reform and emphasizing action, taking small steps, making great efforts, constantly improving the college system, comprehensively summing up the experience and lessons of discipline development, adhering to the problem-oriented and goal-oriented, actively docking with the needs of the state, concreting the characteristics and development direction of the discipline, and using reform to stimulate the vitality and motivation of the whole faculty's career. Thirdly, we hope that every teacher in the Institute will strive for spirit, self-confidence and unity, be a teacher with pattern and ability, and strive to be a good teacher of 'Four Strengths'. He said that Lanzhou University would give full support to the development of the law school. He hoped that the college could plan scientifically, plan as a whole, put the development of the college in the overall situation of the reform and development of the school, and jointly create a new situation for the reform and development of the college.
