First Time, Top Eight Team in the Law Cup

From November 28 to December 1, the undergraduate team of Lanzhou University Law School, participated in the 18th Law Cup Simulation Court Competition sponsored by Tsinghua University and co-sponsored by Lee and Li Foundation. Under the guidance of Zhang Zhiyuan and Zhang Yi teachers of Law School, the team has successfully stepped into the top eight and made an unprecedented breakthrough.

 

The competition invited 40 top law schools across the country, including Tsinghua University, Peking University, China University of Political and Law, Renmin University of China to participate in the competition. In a combined form of online demonstration and offline review, the competition focuses on the formulation and implementation of the Civil Code of China. Also, it takes civil and commercial contract disputes as the theme and centered on the popular issues, which were professionally challenged. After four fierce competitions, the law school has won the recognition of the judges with high professional level and debating skills and successfully advanced to the top eight as the first place in the pool stage. In the quarter-final, the team rose to challenges and stuck together. The team lost against runner-up of last year but Zhu Zeye, an undergraduate of class of 2018, won the title of “champion debator” in this round.

 

The competition has attracted 40 top law schools in China and successfully held 17 sessions since 2003. Every year, experts, scholars, judicial practitioners and lawyers participate in the evaluation process. The partners and directors of Lee and Li Foundation and the winners of the cup in Taiwan all together will gather in Beijing and have an exchange in the mainland. This time, climbing to the top eight not only shows a solid legal literacy, but also a concentrated demonstration of how the Law School attaches great importance to the teaching and focuses on training applied and compound laws.
